Sport has evolved over the past decade and the recent “El-Classico III” was just another sign of its evolution. People will criticize Barca but the fact is everyone does it – Why doesn’t the worlds’ greatest batsman or the so called God doesn’t walk when he edges it - Does he have a point to prove by waiting around even though he edges it!!, why did the Ferrari F1 legend indulge in negative tactics by crashing out his title contender…there are many more examples of the above facts. Let’s take the example of cricket, it was a gentleman’s game and we just had two field umpires, now we have a third and a fourth and guess what now you can refer!! Reason excessive appealing, batsmen not walking even though they would edged it – and playing “Statue” and trying to prove I didn’t I didn’t edge it.
I follow Barca closely and did watch all their El-Classico’s this season – Round 1 they were royally beaten 5-0 – Sergio Ramos sent off!!, Round II 1-1 Draw and Round III 0-1 to RM and Round IV 2-0 to Barca. If you watch all these games over and over again you will see that Mou Mou’s men had no intention of winning. The other night, when Barca completed 800 passes – RM completed just 200 odd passes and they indulged in aggressive challenges and Barca just made full use of it. Definitely it’s an unsporting behavior from 3-4 Barca players but doesn’t change the fact that they played real football. Look at Christiano Ronaldo (CR), one of the world’s best players – he has brought insult to the game by diving around like a baby. Go to youtube and type “Christiano Ronaldo diving” you will find 100’s of videos. When someone of the talent of CR needs to do such a thing it’s a shame to the sport. Name one instance of Messi, Xavi or Iniesta diving – you will find none. Each player has his own set of priorities – one to fall/roll/jump around to score and the other to score by talent.
Mou Mou might be crying but if he can recollect what happened last year, Milito was clearly offside and Inter scored. This was the decisive goal and made Barca trail 3-1 and they had little chance to come back with again Mou Mou’s holding tight tactic. When he was at Porto, Scholes goal was disallowed for no reason and resulted in Man Utd getting eliminated did Alex Ferguson go around crying saying “Scandal Scandal” or did Pep go around saying “San Siro Scandal”. Mou Mou, FYI – Arsenals goal keeper was sent off in the Champions league final – that was a clear RED card – now are you going to say – Uefa helped Barca!!
You need to live with certain mistakes of referee’s and that’s the beauty of the game. If everything is perfect then why do youneed referees – you don’t have your heart pumping around or neither are you excited because everything is perfect.
Well to conclude, one can neither say what the God is doing in cricket is right and what Alaves did last night is wrong – players need to understand and grow up and be ethical. Both are acts that are adding insult to injury to the game but also bring in a new twist to ever so cleanly scripted game.
Mou Mou grow up and learn to win rather than crying around. You have won many matches with favorable decisions from referees. A person realizes the injury only when it happens to him and is least bothered when it happens to others. So grow up! Play good football and let the best team win….
